RE: YEA!! Darn dog 'strollers' banned!

......And no its not there personal choice, It's actually against the rules of the stores, but being that the dogs are small they don't say anything. What would happen if I walked into a grocery store with my two retrievers. People would have a cow. I'm sorry but it's my personal choice to not want dog hair where I buy my food. Actually, it's the "choice" of the place of business, and then you get to choose whether you shop there...unless it falls under a law. :)

RE: YEA!! Darn dog 'strollers' banned!

Some of us think that treating animals as if they were dolls or babies or toys is hideous and completely disrepectful to them as animals!!!!! Huh?!?!? Could you let me know where you would draw the line between animals, dolls or babies, and children (i.e., "furkids") I still think it's personal choice. I don't take my dog to see Santa, but I think it's cute. I don't dress them in "outfits," but I've had a dog wear a sweater on a cold day. What about tricks? Is there a line there about making dogs "circus animals"? Are "sit" and "stay" okay, but not, say, "roll over"? I'm sorry...I just don't get the ill will on this thread, where everyone is supposed to be an animal lover. :h

Disclaimer..... ....much of what Mandrake posts MAY be tongue in cheek..... :S I should have known. Much of what Mandrake posts is baloney. :p I hope the Mods noticed that I still remained my usual ladylike self in the face of great disappointment. :B

RE: Picture Posting Thread III

...apparently, their web guru decided that removing all the pictures would speed up the site substantially, therefore...... If that's true, why not just explain that up front? :@ Personally, I could have gone with that. I would have liked a day or two to look back at some special pictures...

RE: YEA!! Darn dog 'strollers' banned!

I have never seen a "dog stroller." :h Seems to me that those who run the dog shows make the rules. But, really, for everywhere else...isn't this simply a matter of personal choice within laws or rules? This thread is no different than the ones about golf carts, WalMart, highway speed, dog food, etc. :p

RE: Still slow

"Slow" probably has something to do with the type of business one is in. We have a storage business and we are full. Our son needs a place for some temporary storage, and when we called around locally yesterday, there were no spots open.

Pete....very nice shot of that tree. We have tons of mesquites around here, but the bark on that one is really exceptional.

Bonnie, very nice pictures of your gorgeous grandkids. I can identify with the ages--it's a fun time. Put me with those who do think your daughter looks like you. :)

....I'm so sorry to hear about Baby James. Even though he and his family faced many challenges, I know he brought lots of joy to all those who knew and cared for him. God bless his courageous parents. I had the same thoughts, marites. What a sweet little addition he was to our photo thread.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

.....Another thing that has bothered me is the criticism I have received from some folks about the Old Fella Memorial. Someone wrote a letter to the editor of the Waynesboro True Citizen Newspaper that the money spent for the memorial would be better used giving it to the poor and needy folks of Burke County. It is just another swipe at Old Fella and what he stands for by those who oppose the animal shelter. Okay, that’s enough for now. Talk with you later. Yes, Richard, you do have a lot on your plate and we know that you will handle it all "just right" in your usual kind and graceful way. Of everything you mention, this criticism is one thing I would suggest you let go in one ear and out the other. There's always going to be someone who isn't happy with the decisions we make...but you know that. ;) As for me, I never tire of reading your posts, whether they are animal antics, emotional stories, rants, or just information about what's going on in your world. It's our world too. :)

RE: Whacha readin' now?

I'm half-way through the new Jeffrey Deavers paperback, "The Sleeping Doll." It's not Lincoln Rhymes, but his newest lead character, Kathryn Dance...and it's very good! :) I had never read Jeffrey Deaver; someone gave one of his novel to me and I really liked it. I'll have to look for The Sleeping Doll. Rebecca Rebecca, I have several of his books--they are all good. :) This one is especially interesting because Kathryn Dance uses kinesics in her work. I hope he includes her in more of his books. Link
